ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

Here is a story about a woman who refuses to be an easy victim again.
If I'm ever in that position again-- unarmed and under attack -- I mean to come away from the experience(even if dead) with at least the trophy of one eyeball from my tormentor with which to festoon my trophy case. Next time would/will be tooth-and-nail. If I have time to access it, my weighty little Leatherman will be slammed forcefully into an accommodating temple-- I will do my best to kill with my bare, immaculately manicured hands: no more Mr. Nice Bitch. There are kneecaps, eyeballs, shins, insteps and wedding tackle among the array of vulnerable areas on an attacker, and I'll set about my business if I must.

I didn't believe in just handing it over, and I don't even moreso now than ever. I'm still no Linda Hamilton, but I think this is a principle that applies not just to possessions or your life, but to our very freedoms and rights as human beings. Don't just give it away without a fight. Passivity gets you nothing but soundly and thoroughly ensconced in the bitch-seat, and you teach the aggressors they were right to disdain you.

Yeah, it's possible someone will divest me of a handbag in the future, but next time, I'm going to take something in exchange, including a heaping helping of their DNA.

Anger issues

Woman tossed into middle of Hwy. 169 during road-rage
Jennifer Boulden had just made a slow U-turn on Hwy. 169 south of Shakopee, and the guy coming up fast behind her was honking and motioning to pull over.

This was a legal u-turn. Folks, unless you are missing a kid, you probably shouldn't pull over for strangers.
She stopped on the shoulder and the man got out of his pickup, that also carried a woman and two children. When she opened her car door, the man, swearing a blue streak, yanked Boulden out of her car . She tried to call 911, but he grabbed her cell phone. He hurled and shattered it on the highway. Then he picked up the petite, 125-pound Prior Lake woman.

Her cell phone accomplished a lot, didn't it? What if she would have pulled out a gun? This ******* tried to kill her, she should have been able to defend herself.

What kind of a lesson is he teaching to his children, who were in the truck with him? And why is his wife still with him? Lady, if he's got anger issues like this, it's only a matter of time before he takes his irrational anger out on you.
"I was high in the air and then I was in middle of 169 northbound." she recalled from her hospital bed Thursday morning. "I remember rolling over and hearing skidding brakes. A lady got out and stopped traffic. A man ran and scooped me up and carried me to the side of the road."

This is why "disparity of force" is a legal concept in regards to the use of lethal force. This woman had no way to defend herself against this thug.

Justice

The republicans who forgot they were republicans were punished yesterday. They weren't horsewhipped, unfortunately, but they were removed from leadership positions.

The changes in GOP leadership on House committees are:

• Rep. Rod Hamilton, R-Mountain Lake, replaced by Rep. Dean Urdahl, R-Grove City, in the Agriculture, Rural Economies & Veterans Affairs Committee.

• Rep. Kathy Tingelstad, R-Andover, replaced by Rep. Larry Howes, R-Walker, in the Capital Investment Committee.

• Rep. Jim Abeler, R-Anoka, replaced by Rep. Matt Dean, R-Dellwood, in the Health Care and Human Services Committee.

• Heidgerken, R-Freeport, replaced by Rep. Sondra Erickson, R-Princeton, in the K-12 Finance Committee.

• Erhardt, R-Edina, replaced by Rep. Morrie Lanning, R-Moorhead, in the Property Tax Relief & Local Sales Taxes Committee.

• In addition, Rep. Neil Peterson, R-Bloomington, was removed as an assistant minority whip and replaced by Rep. Pat Garofalo, R-Farmington.

I'm waiting for the wailing and gnashing of teeth to commence. These....folks don't seem to understand that being a Republican generally comes with some expectations from your constituency. Not stealing out money is one of those expectations.

I'd love to see public letters from these people announcing their party-switch.

Update: Before you throw out hyperbole and bullshit, be sure to read my previous post on the subject.

House, Senate override a Pawlenty veto for the first time

What an idiotic headline. A nice, congratulatory POS response to the latest wallet rape by our legislators. It's a lovely demonstration of bias by Mike Kaszuba and Mark Brunswick.

The actual headline should be something like "State Legislature Passes Biggest Tax Hike in 150 years". That's called...wait for it...honesty.

They aren't exactly up-to-speed on tenses and English language usage, either.
The legislation would increase the state gas tax 5 1/2 cents by fall and then by up to another 3 cents; 3 1/2 cents of the 8 1/2 cents would be in place until bonds authorized under the plan are retired.

The legislation is increasing the state gas tax by the stated amount, followed by another 1/2 cent increase per year.

And we can't forget the part they trimmed from the article. Why was it trimmed, I wonder?
It also will provide a $25 income-tax credit for low-income Minnesotans to ease the effect of the gas tax increase.

Income redistribution. Steal from the rich and give to the poor. Wonderful.

Under another provision, a quarter-cent sales tax increase would occur in the seven-county Twin Cities metro area without a referendum, with all proceeds going to transit projects. The sales tax needs action by the county boards.

And it comes with another sales tax increase for the metro area! I've addressed this before. I'd like to remind the politicians in this state that it is not possible to tax your way to prosperity. Get out of the damn way!

Here are the voting records. These are the jerks that need to be taken out of office this fall. The names in bold are the metro-area congress-critters that voted to disproportionately screw their constituents. Newsflash, folks! The metro-area citizens pay the lion's share of ALL transportation costs in the state! We are already screwed out of most of our share of the transportation budget.

Now, for a comparison. Let's see which congress-critters voted to wallet-rape their constituents with a special sales-tax last time and this time. I'm going to ignore the out-state XXXXXXXs, because the sales tax didn't screw their constituents in an uncomfortable spot. I am, however, going to count the metro-area folks, because their constituents probably venture into Hennepin County on occasion. The bold are the actual Hennepin County legislature with a taste for...well, we won't go into their apparent fetishes.

There are a couple of lessons to be learned here.

The first lesson is to the Republican politicians: If you tax us, you will not get re-elected!

The second lesson is for the Democrat voters: Once a tax-hungry piece of crap, always a tax hungry piece of crap!

Ironic Apologism

There is something vaguely...entertaining about people who unconditionally, unabashedly defend police officers, regardless of their bad acts AND condemn those who would see the bad cops held accountable AND assume that cops and DAs will get 'revenge' on those same people AND don't see the irony in admitting some cops will abuse their authority strictly because other cops have been accused of abusing their authority.

"If he don't straighten up, by god, we'll prove he's right about us!"

The same people are generally the type to threaten to taze anybody who dares to disagree with them.

Evil Elmo

Elmo has been possessed by a murderer.

....an Elmo doll belonging to their 2-year-old son, James, began to spout death threats towards him after they changed its batteries, TBO.com reports.

The Elmo Knows Your Name Doll started saying "Kill James!" in a sing-song voice, the site reports.

Joke of the Day

Forgotten Great Moments in History:

SCENE: MARCH 6, 1836.

On that fateful day, Davy Crockett woke up and walked from his bunk on the floor of the Alamo up to the observation post on the west wall. Col. William B. Travis and Jim Bowie were already there.

As the three gazed at the hordes of Mexicans moving steadily towards them, Davy turned to Bowie with a puzzled look on his face and asked, "Jim, are we landscaping today?"

Quote of the Day

"Imagine how much better the world would be if it was the ideals of Harpo Marx, rather than boring ol' Karl, that caught on. It's hard to massacre people with bicycle horns."

Overheard at my house

"Dad, I don't want to."
"Dad, I don't care."
"Dad, it's cold out."
"I'm not going outside, Dad."
"Dad, it's not....whoa, that's cool, Dad! Take some pictures!"

Bear Attack

It's important to know the what kind of bear you might run into out in the wild.
When in bear country, it is advisable to have little bells sewn onto your clothing so as not to surprise the bears. Also, you should carry some kind of pepper spray. It is also important to know what type of bear you are likely to encounter, brown or grizzley. Tracks of the grizzley are noticeably larger. If you happen to see any droppings, those of the brown bear generally contain seeds and shells of various nuts found in the area while droppings of grizzley bears often contain little bells and smell like pepper spray.

The Head of the Snake

Don't read this anywhere you don't want people to see you with tears in your eyes.

"When you enter the museum you will walk through a long and winding hallway. The walls are covered with mirror shards. Each represents one of the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi Kurds murdered in the genocidal Anfal campaign. A river of twinkling lights lines the ceiling. Each represents one of the five thousand villages destroyed by Saddam Hussein."

Places to Avoid, Part 2, the Update

Update to this story:

Less than a week after shots were fired near the Best Buy store in Brooklyn Center, a Minneapolis man has been arrested and charged with three counts of felony drive by shooting.

According to statement from the Brooklyn Center Police Department, Tyriek Montauge Tyner, 18, of Minneapolis, was arrested the Friday, Feb. 8, in connection with the drive-by shooting that occurred in the parking lot of Best Buy in Brooklyn Center.

Charges were filed on Monday, Feb. 11.

I hope you rot in prison.
If found guilty of all charge[sic], the penalty for each felony offense of drive by shooting is 3 to 10 years and/or $20,000 for each count.

I hope you get the sentences consecutively. Thirty years of your life is not too much to ask for endangering countless innocent bystanders in your little pissing match.

Star Wars is Comin' to Town

There's a new Star Wars movie on the way.
NEW YORK (AP) -- The "Star Wars" universe, already substantially rendered by computer generated imagery, is giving in all the way to animation.
Lucas

George Lucas wanted to explore more "Star Wars" ideas. "The Clone Wars" is the result.

"Star Wars: The Clone Wars," an animated film, will open in theaters August 15 and be followed by a TV series of the same name, to air on the Cartoon Network and TNT this fall.

Although, I could have sworn that Cartoon Network already did this as a series of shorts.

Unarmed Homeowner vs Home invaders

Here is an excellent article.

It is a sort of thing that happens too often in the United States: criminals, who have been paroled then repeatedly go back to a violent life of crime, plus another family lulled into a false sense of security thinking the police will be there to protect them in their “good neighborhood”. As usual, the end result is
tragic

And now, for the shameless plug. Take care of yourselves.

Naked Sushi

Naked Sushi Night Coming To Minneapolis
The dining fad of eating sushi off a woman or man naked -- except for some strategically placed banana leaves and flowers -- started in Japan.

It has swept through Europe, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Now it's coming to the Twin Cities, in blustery March.

Thom Pham has scheduled a naked sushi night at Temple, his downtown Minneapolis restaurant, on March 8.

Time to broaden my horizons and try some sushi, I think.

Quote of the Day

One bleeding-heart type asked me in a recent interview if I did not agree that "violence begets violence." I told him that it is my earnest endeavor to see that it does. I would like very much to ensure—and in some cases I have—that any man who offers violence to his fellow citizen begets a whole lot more in return than he can enjoy.

Demond Reed

There are times when I wish Minnesota had the death penalty.

When 4-year-old Demond Reed soiled his pants last week, his purported caretaker, Carla Poole, began to beat him, ordering her 4- and 6-year-old sons to hold down his arms.

That's the nice part of the story. The poor kid died, being beaten by the caretaker his father selected when he was sent to jail.

Requiescat In Pace, Demond.

Brain Death

This is an amazing story.

As Raleane (Rae) Kupferschmidt lay motionless in her hospital bed, family and friends said their final goodbyes and the funeral home was called.

But just as the grieving began in her Lake Elmo home, Kupferschmidt woke up from her coma.

"There's no medical explanation for what happened to my mother,'' said Kupferschmidt's daughter, Lisa Sturm, who is a surgical technician at Regions Hospital. "It's a miracle."

Just days earlier, doctors offered no hope that Kupferschmidt, 65, could survive a massive cerebral hemorrhage.

However, the exception won't make me change my pre-mortem plans. If I'm a vegetable, and common medical wisdom says that's not going to change, pull the plug.

I do like this part:
"It was inevitable that she was going to die,'' Sturm said. So she decided to bring her mother home. More than 250 people showed up with soup, hot dishes and memories. They said goodbye to Rae and wished the family well.

The family got to say good-bye in private, and she was going to be allowed to pass with dignity.

Poor Baby

You steal billions from an independent company, then complain when they sue? You've got my sympathy, dipwad.
Last week, Exxon Mobil obtained a court order freezing up to $12 billion of Venezuela's state-owned oil company's worldwide assets after the Chavez government forced the company out of two joint ventures last year.

Britain's High Court barred Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. (PdVSA) from selling assets up to that amount, Exxon Mobil spokeswoman Margaret Ross said last week.

The judgment stems from Venezuela's June decision to take control of two projects it had entered into with Exxon, the world's largest publicly traded oil company.

Exxon came up with the idea. Exxon did the legwork. Exxon probably provided most of the starting capital. Venezuela nationalized stole the venture. Twice.

Cry me a river.

Even better, he's planning on dropping the remains of his economy in the toilet.
"We are not going to send oil to the United States."

Idiot.
The United States is Venezuela's biggest customer for the oil-rich nation's petroleum products, importing about 1.4 million barrels of oil per day from Venezuela, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. Exxon Mobil did not immediately return a call on Sunday seeking comment.

Now, the interesting part. If he does cut off oil shipments to the U.S. and we DON'T invade, will the BDS of the "No more war for oil" idiots get turned off? They are our second biggest OPEC supplier.

Socialism is Slavery

Also from Marko
There can be no such thing as a right to something that necessitates a fiscal obligation on the part of another individual.

How can you have a “right” to free health care? If you have a right to see the doctor free of charge, it means that the doctor has the obligation to work for you free of charge. It means that the doctor is effectively your slave.

Quote of the Day

“Pacifism is a shifty doctrine under which a man accepts the benefits of the social group without being willing to pay - and claims a halo for his dishonesty.”

Interesting

Apparently, in addition to MN Home Invasion Watch, I am becoming a crime blog.

Minneapolis Police Highlights - week of 29 January - 4 February, 2008

It's been an interesting week.

400 blk 33rd St E: Officers assisted SWAT officers with search warrant; SWAT officer forced to shoot pit bull dog while entering residence, dog died; 5 people found inside residence, 1 suspect had almost 5 grams of possible meth; approx 12 grams marijuana found in residence; 4 others in residence cited for Participating in Disorderly House; replica handgun recovered along with several photos of gang members, documents, photos of handguns on cell phone, $442.: Arrested/ NARCOTICS

A little bit of pot, a little bit of meth, a replica gun, and some pictures of guns and gang members. My questions: What exactly constitutes Participating in a Disorderly House? and Is this really worth a SWAT-capade?

100 blk W Lake St: Officers called to Assault; victims walking to car when approached by 3 men, 1 woman; 1 man pulled out knife, stabbed victim in back without saying anything;

No robbery, no threats, just a knife in the back. Hmm, is there a reason I carry a gun?

Arrested: AGGRAVATED ROBBERY: 1900 blk Clinton Av S: Victim was getting into car for work when two occupants of car (license plate: MN JDD-826) pulled in front of victim’s car, blocked it; 2 suspects then exited their car, announced robbery. when victim started to resist, armed suspect fired shot in the victim’s direction; victim gave suspects over $1500 in cash, suspect fled in victim’s car, left their vehicle at scene; victim’s car later found in Anoka Co unoccupied; Sgt assigned to case identified 1 suspect, tracked him to Moundsview residence; suspect had DOC warrant, arrested suspect, search warrant conducted

If you're going to resist, resist with a weapon. Shoot the bastards who are threatening your life.

2 Arrested: AGGRAVATED ROBBERY/CARJACKING: 13th Av/9th St S: Victim sitting in car outside 9th St address when attacked by suspect who forced his way into the unlocked car, attempted to snap victim’s neck; victim escaped but suspect took car which also contained the family dog; several hours later 3rd Precinct officers saw victim’s stolen car, began pursuit suspect attempted to flee on foot, captured by K-9 officer; victim positively identified suspect

Obviously, this thug got his start in a life of crime by believing what he saw in the movies.

4 Arrested: ROBBERY: Morgan Plymouth Avs N: Victim walking in front of Precinct when robbed my former classmate at gunpoint;case declined for charging, pending further investigation

Idiot. Don't mug folks in front of the police station. Can we start offering IQ tests before we let people become criminals? Oh wait, the crooks don't care about the laws.

2 Arrested: 700 blk 22nd Av NE: 20-month child brought to HCMC with multiple broken ribs, severe internal injuries; investigators conducted numerous interviews; stories inconsistent with evidence; child’s mother, mother’s boyfriend charged with MALICIOUS PUNISHMENT OF CHILD/CHILD NEGLECT

These people need to be introduced to the electric chair. There is no excuse for beating a 20 month old baby. Reject their air-use license.

Arrested: 3000 blk 36th Av S: Officer responded to DOMESTIC ASSAULT call; victim reported suspect punched, kicked her while she lay on floor, with her children present; suspect grabbed victim by throat, continuing to punch her; suspect charged with felony DOMESTIC ASSAULT/TERRORISTIC THREATS

Ladies, if your boyfriend is choking you, it is attempted murder. Defend yourselves!

Interesting

This is a reassuring thing to see. Apparently, searching for "home invasion" atf will get you to one of my sites.

Dear Representative:

I couldn't help but notice that you signed an amicus curiae brief in support of the reversal of District of Columbia v. Heller.

By signing this brief, you are explicitly supporting the ridiculous notion that banning the possession of an effective means of self-defense is the proper function of Congress and somehow constitutional. Banning handguns and functional long guns is "infringement", which is specifically not allowed by the Constitution, which you are sworn to uphold, not step on.

Washington DC has one of the highest murder rates in the country, year after year, due to its strict and unconstitutional bans. States and cities with less infringing laws, or even no infringement, have much lower crime rates, in almost every instance. The gun ban is unreasonable, illogical, unconstitutional, and unworkable.

Any law outlawing guns will only affect the law-abiding citizens. By their very nature, criminals are willing to break the law. By signing this brief, you are stating to the world that you do not care for the well-being of the citizens of Washington DC, and, by extension, anybody else outside of the government.

Your job is to represent your constituents, not to trample the Constitution in your zeal to run the lives of an independent citizenry. We are citizens, not subjects of our government. You must remember that you work for us, not the other way around.

Sincerely, but with little hope of actual representation,
princewally

Congress sends economic aid plan to Bush with tax rebates for many; Bush signals approval
The checks will start showing up in May, if you are going to get one. Remember: This is not the government giving you money! This is the government returning your money.

Property-tax burden bad for business, say area officials
Really?

Taking money away from the people who can spend the money, and using it to finance government, is a bad idea. Increasing the amount you take every year is a horrible idea. Remember: It's your money, not theirs.

Reasons to carry a gun

1. The police can't be counted on to save you.
a gunman stormed a council meeting and opened fire, killing two police officers and three city officials.

The cops were already there, and couldn't react in time. What happens if you have to dial 911, first?

2. Restraining orders are meaningless.
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio—Christi Layne was terrified of her husband, court records and her attorney say. After she moved out, she got a restraining order against him and had an alarm system installed.

But none of that mattered Thursday morning when he marched into a Catholic school, fired a gun and then stabbed her—right in front of her class of fifth-graders.

This one comes with a corollary that gun-free zones don't stop the criminals.

Places to Avoid

Avoid Big Box stores in the ghetto, or just north of the ghetto.

Shopping at Best Buy, then, suddenly a rolling gunfight comes into the neighborhood.

Shots were fired the afternoon of Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the area of the Best Buy store at 5925 Earle Brown Drive in Brooklyn Center.

Earlier in the afternoon, officers responded to a call of a fight between two groups at the Brookdale Regional Service Center at 6125 Shingle Creek Parkway in Brooklyn Center.

A short time later reports were received which indicated the suspects who had been involved in the altercation at the Service Center had fled to the area of the Best Buy store and that shots had been fired between the two groups. Responding Brooklyn Center Police officers and deputies from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office arrested some of the people involved.

The preliminary investigation established no one was hurt in the incident.

In a press release from Best Buy, "Our thoughts are with those affected by the shooting in the parking lot of our Brooklyn Center store. We can currently confirm that no employees were injured. We are shocked by this incident and are fully cooperating with the local law enforcement to provide any information useful to the investigation."

Highlights of the Minneapolis Police Highlights for last week

20XX JAMES FRIDAY 0230 HOURS 08-030653

Male robbed of $2,000.00, his phone and pants @ gunpoint after getting a ride home from Gabby’s by three males known to him. Victim told officers he would handle the matter.

Pants and Phone: $200.
Wallet full of cash: $2000
Telling the cops who to look at when your former friends turn up dead: Priceless.

BROADWAY & ILION FRIDAY 1200 HOURS 08-034356

A 36 year old female waited three days to report her 15 year old daughter being robbed at gunpoint by a 30-35 year old female and a 20-25 year old female known to them as they drove around in a car. The mother said the welfare office wouldn’t give her a new EBT card or reimburse her for the lost cash without a police report.

Next time, don't send your teenage daughter to the store with older thugs. Get your lazy ass off the couch get your own groceries. This crap highlights the problems. It wasn't worth reporting the fact that your daughter was robbed at gunpoint, until you found out you couldn't get reimbursed for your free money without the report. Where are your priorities?

36th & LYNDALE FRIDAY 1630 HOURS 08-031085

29 year old male from Blaine who just happened to be in the area said he was punched in the face and robbed of $40.00 by a 23-30 year old male. How ever a DOC officer saw the victim and suspect talking and walking together and when confronted the victim then said he was in the area to look for a young adult male to bring back to his older gay male friend so they could have sex.

"Just happened to be in the area"? Flashing your bankroll to a hooker? You've got brains, bud.

34th & FREMONT SATURDAY 0100 HOURS 08-031670

Traffic stop recovered several BB guns, BB’s and a loaded gun. Arrested: were three 17 & 15 year old males who admitted to firing the BB guns at cars, signs, buildings and people in St. Louis Park, Edina and Mpls.

This is a good way to get shot, kids. Law-abiding citizens can carry guns, here. Thugs carry guns. Anybody who gets a gun pointed at them by some thug-brat is going to shoot back.

I got into an argument with a coworker yesterday. Said coworker has a severe case of Bush Derangement Syndrome. Bush is now an 'off-limits' topic at work.

However, his major points, refuted:

1. We're in Iraq for oil.
1a. Why bother?
Oil imports last year:

Jun-07 Jul-07 Aug-07 Sep-07 Oct-07 Nov-07

All Countries
405,019 423,988 421,565 409,164 401,452 395,853

Persian Gulf

2. Bush lied Iraqi ties to Al Qaeda:
2a. Not a master/servant relationship, but definitely "ties".

3. Bush lied about WMDs.
3a. EVERYBODY thought Saddam either had or was trying to get WMDs. And, surprise, he was trying to get them. And he was lying about having them, pretending he did. And he used to have them, and used them against his own people.

I got slow-rolled by the Pawlenty Administration

Minnesota Reciprocity Talking Points
by Joel Rosenberg

What is this "Reciprocity" issue all about?
Subd. 16. Recognition of permits from other states. (a) The commissioner must annually establish and publish a list of other states that have laws governing the issuance of permits to carry weapons that are not substantially similar to this section. The list must be available on the Internet. A person holding a carry permit from a state not on the list may use the license or permit in this state subject to the rights, privileges, and requirements of this section. (b) Notwithstanding paragraph (a), no license or permit from another state is valid in this state if the holder is or becomes prohibited by law from possessing a firearm. (c) Any sheriff or police chief may file a petition under subdivision 12 seeking an order suspending or revoking an out-of-state permit holder's authority to carry a pistol in this state on the grounds set forth in subdivision 6, paragraph (a), clause (3). An order shall only be issued if the petitioner meets the burden of proof and criteria set forth in subdivision 12. If the court denies the petition, the court must award the permit holder reasonable costs and expenses including attorney fees. The petition may be filed in any county in the state where a person holding a license or permit from another state can be found. (d) The commissioner must, when necessary, execute reciprocity agreements regarding carry permits with jurisdictions whose carry permits are recognized under paragraph (a).

Short form: Handgun carry permits from other states are supposed to be good in Minnesota, except for those few states that have permit issuance laws that are very different than Minnesota's -- those that are not "substantially similar." Minnesota's carry law requires some fairly modest training and a background check. That's all.

The job of the Commissioner of Public Safety is to find out which states do not require at least some training and a background check, and annually put out a list of those states, and those States' permits are to be considered insufficient for carrying in Minnesota, leaving all other States' permits acceptable for carry in Minnesota. Simple, right?

Trouble is, The Commissioner didn't do that. And his boss -- Governor Pawlenty -- didn't make him. Instead, the DPS put out a much longer list. Bottom line is that the DPS decided to interpret "substantially similar" as "virtually identical" to Minnesota law. Needless to say, this eliminated many otherwise conforming states.

Why should anybody care about this?

Lots of reasons, actually. For one thing, the right to keep and bear arms is a fundamental, individual right, which should not be infringed on the whim of some unelected official. For another, those states whose permits are honored by Minnesota are more likely to honor Minnesota's permits, allowing traveling Minnesotans to be able to carry handguns to protect themselves in more places.

Government bureaucrats should follow the law; they should not make it up to fit their own views.

In 2005, in order to get support of the self-defense community in a very close election, Governor Pawlenty made an election promise though his legislative aide and Chief of Staff to get this reciprocity problem fixed, but he hasn't. He "slow-rolled" the advocates demanding that he follow the law -- as even his opponent, Mike Hatch, had promised to -- and the Governor has been failing to keep his promise ever since. There were 40,000 permit holders in Minnesota then; Pawlenty won by 20,000 votes.

Do the math.

Permit Holders aren't the only ones for whom this is a problem.

Ask the folks calling usual Republican contributors to ask for money and support. For more than a year now, each and every one of the low-level employees and volunteers has been hearing, over and over again, "not a dime for Republicans until Pawlenty fixes the reciprocity mess." Welching on a promise isn't just unethical; it's expensive, and the cost isn't born just by the promise breaker.

What needs to be done?

I think Governor Pawlenty needs to keep his word -- he can order his Commissioner of Public Safety to simply (and immediately) take all of the more than thirty states that require some training and a background check for a carry permit off the "bad list." Or he can live with the consequences of people saying, over and over again, that he's simply not been as good as his word.

It is often said that the only thing a politician has to recommend him is his word, and that if that's no good, he's no good. Sadly, I'm becoming one of those people who now doubts the Governor's word, and I've told him so.

What should you do? That's up to you.

Jesse the Wonderpoodle, Chapter 13

Being laid off for almost a year would have been insanely boring if I wouldn’t have had any animals to work with. I bought a horse, actually two but we’ll get to that later. The first horse I bought had bad hips, I got him for 27 dollars. His bad hips make it so he can’t spread his back legs. When he rears up so he falls over and when he runs he trips over his own feet –not good-.

One day we were trying to catch him to work with him and to calm him down when he’s around people. Dad reached for his halter and meat loaf reared up and fell over. I seen him go down and figured that It would be a good time to grab him before he got up. I grabbed the halter and then he kick me above the knee in his attempts to get up, knocking my feet out from under me. There was hooves and feet flyen every which way before he regained his footing and ran to the other side of the pen. As for me, well, I had a quite graphic conversation with the fence post that I was leaning on. It took three weeks before I was able to walk with out pain.

My other horse is a registered paint pony and right now I’m trying to get her papered name to be “small town rumor”. If she’s by herself she’s very easy to work with, to the point that she was my jogging partner until one day my leg was hurting (some of you may remember that I had surgery on my leg. It feels ten times better but every now and then it will start hurting. It helps if I keep moving)and I was just walking and she wanted to run. I let her go to the end of the rope. She was out there pulling on it and getting a little antsy so she throw a kick at me. When the first one missed so I shortened up the rope so her hind legs were behind me and told her that I was going to pretend that didn’t happen. She then moved up against me nudging me with her head. When that didn’t work she landed a glancing kick to my leg. She’s in with Meat Loaf right now and when there together and you try to get close to her to work with her Meat Loaf will start running making her run. On one such time I had to use the lasso to catch her and the tail end of the lasso got wrapped around my arm so when the slack ended it was quite the earth moving experience, actually the earth never moved it was just me skipping across the surface that made it seem like it was. That ordeal left a really neat spiral bruise running up my arm. So I’m going to be forced to put her in a small pen and introduce her to the electric fence. He’s going to the sales barn as soon as we're able to get him in a trailer.

You know, they told me I had a 1 in 10,000 chance of having the strap on my chute come apart and I beat those odds. They also said that I had a 1 in 1,000 chance to get lime disease and again I beat the odds. So now I’m thinken the lottery is next.

You can always look at the bright side!

I’M NOT YOUR CHILD!

I HOPE 2003 HAS A LOT OF WILD AND EXCITING ADVENTURES IN STORE FOR YOU AND YOURS!

Sincerely,

Jesse the Wonderpoodle

P.S. This is all 100% true.

P.P.S. Jesse the Wonderpoodle is NOT another name for princewally.

TLMFOE

The Luckiest MotherF****r on Earth
As you are walking across the trailer to put the gun back on the shelf, you trip and fall, as people that have consumed a 12-pack of beer are wont to do. When the gun goes off and shoots out the TV that your buddies are watching, they turn around to cuss you out, and realize that you're laying on the floor semi-comatose, bleeding profusely from the front of your head.

It gets better.

Chuck Rosenthal getting the boot... (TX)

Found here.

You all may remember Chuck Rosenthal? He is the Harris county DA who declared that he would not honor the previous Texas law establishing a presumption that lawful citizens with a handgun in the car met the Texas definition of "travelling."

Instead he declared he would charge them anyway and let a jury decide. Some of the criminals he took off the streets in this fashion included a Houston doctor who had just bought a firearm and was on his way home when he was pulled over for speeding.

Well, it turns out that ol' Chuck got crossways with a local group and they sued him as well as getting a court order for his emails. Chuck then deleted 3,000 of the 4,500 emails in the court order which may cost him sanctions before the bar. In addition, of the 1,500 emails they did get, they found racist emails, pornography, and that Chuck was sleeping with his secretary.

It now looks like he will not be continuing his tenure as DA of Harris County. Hopefully, Texans can get someone who is a little more supportive of their RKBA to replace him.

Vampire:Prince of the City

From the publisher: "Since time immemorial, the Kindred - vampires - have stalked unseen by the mortal masses upon whom they prey. Their world is ruled by the Prince, the most powerful and influential of the city's Kindred. The Prince's word is inviolate and his actions unquestionable. However, the Prince is dead and his legacy is but ashes. The mantle of leadership must fall upon another Kindred resident of the city — one of the Primogen, the ruling council that normally supports and advises the Prince in his decisions and judgments. The competition will be fierce, and only the most cunning and resourceful Kindred will prevail. Deals will be struck, alliances will be forged, and agreements will be broken. Do you have what it takes to become the new Prince of the City?

The aim of the game is simple: Score more Prestige than any other player so that you may be declared the new Prince. You gain Prestige by controlling areas of the board that are defined as realms of mortal Influence. Each category is further divided into zones, and some zones are more prestigious than others. Gain even more Prestige by resolving Events that affect the Kindred world, or by implementing various Strategies that give you a unique edge over your opponents. Most troublesome, Prestige can be lost as well as gained - if you are outmaneuvered, you may find yourself becoming Notorious. In the process of building your Prestige, you may acquire Resources or directly Challenge your opponents to hinder them or send them to torpor. You must also keep track of your Blood, which is used up as game turns go by and which you spend to activate Discipline powers. Influence, Resources, Strategy and Blood are the currencies of Kindred unife, and thus they are all bargaining chips for you to use on the way to ultimate victory.

Prince of the City is designed for three to five players, each of whom represents a different clan from Vampire: The Requiem. Of moderate complexity, the game calls for strategy, tactics, diplomacy and guile to succeed. A number of optional and advanced rules provide even more strategy and replay value for more experienced players.

Created in the model of the finest European boardgames, the Prince of the City box contains everything you need to play the game, including a full-color board of artwork depicting the city, a rulebook describing how to play, three decks of playing cards (Events, Resources and Strategy), several 10-sided dice, and a number of miniatures, counters and tokens."

Jesse the Wonderpoodle, Chapter 12

We were all in at the Eagles celebrating a birthday. Well, all of us except Jeremiah, who was going on a first date with a young lady. They got to the movie after it had started and came over to the eagles for the evening. Probably not the wisest choice. By the time they got there we were pretty well tuned and in really good spirits.

One of my lady friends Kay (Dennis’s wife)said she wanted to dance, so I jumped up out of my chair and spun hers around (bar swivel chairs)and gave her a couch dance (Sheila I’ve already told you it’ll cost a dollar). She turned red almost instantly and dropped her face into her hands. I took her by the hand and lead her out on the dance floor. By this time Jerry was trying to disown me. I mean to insult the “hillbilly stomp” In such a manner is just sacrilege.

One night I called up Dennis to see if Kay and him self wanted to go to the bar one evening, a female voice answered the phone and I though it was Kay so I lowered my voice and asked “so are you naked”. I knew I was in trouble when the voice on the other end started giggling. My first response was “aaaaa your not Kay are you”, the response was a humorous “no”. O’boy here I was thinken I got Kay’s mom but it turned out to be a wrong number. It’s a good thing that obscene phone calls are an art form.

McCain

Conversation here.

If McCain wants the conservative vote, he should consider some level of conservatism. More to the point, he should have considered that years ago, instead of being democrat-lite in his voting record.

He won't get my vote, and it is his own fault. The republican party is screwing themselves by fielding a stack of socialists and downplaying the actual conservatives until the conservatives can't maintain their campaigns for lack of support of from the political machine.

I won't vote for Hillary, Obama, Romney, or McCain. I can't vote for any of those authoritarian socialists with a clean conscience. Come November, I will vote R across the board for any congress seats, but for the president, I will either write in Fred Thompson or vote Libertarian. I won't make a difference, but neither will anybody voting for any of the listed candidates.

You might be Al Qaeda if...

10 - You refine heroin for a living, but you have a moral objection to beer.

9 - You own a $300 machine gun and a $5,000 rocket launcher, but you can't afford shoes.

8 - You have more wives than teeth.

7 - You think vests come in two styles: bullet-proof and suicide.

5 - You consider television dangerous, but routinely carry ammunition in your robe.

4 - You've been asked, "Does this Burka make my butt look fat?"

3 - You were amazed to discover that cell phones have uses other than setting off roadside bombs.

2 - You've uttered the phrase, "I love what you've done with your cave."

1 - You wipe your butt with your bare left hand, but consider bacon unclean.

Jesse the Wonderpoodle, Chapter 11

This muzzle-loader season was pretty uneventful, I did get one and missed another. You’ll have to ask my brother about his case of buck fever. One day the temp. dropped almost twenty degrees and was hovering between zero and five above with a very cold wind. As one of the standers, my toes started to go numb, then my fingers before the cold started settling in my legs. After six hours of this the only thing I had on my mind was a nice long hot shower. But when I got home the sewer was plugged so I had to go out to the outhouse for a bathroom break. I mean, bearing my butt to that wind was not on my list of things to do.

I’ve had a class “A” driver’s license for ten years and even while working in the machine shop I kept it up as my ace in the hole. But when I applied for an over the road driving job I had to get a copy of my driving record. At the cop shop getting my driving record, the young lady behind the window just started laughing when she pulled my record off the printer. The way I understood it was that they were only suppose to go back five years (unless you’re a repeat offender). I grabbed the paper and read it slack jawed. It was a full page of traffic violations.

To give you an idea on what it looked like: I’ve got fifteen speeding tickets...or driving awards, depending on how you look at it. I mean, were else do you get all those flashing lights and sirens going off and have someone in a clean pressed uniform come up to you and say “you’re a winner” and for a mere $99.99 for shipping and handling you’ll receive your document. I also wreaked thirteen cars and three motor cycles, being hospitalized twice. You know, just in case you're wondering what it's like to be doin' 70 and throw your car into reverse, you know, just to see what it’ll do. I highly, highly, highly recommend you don’t do it. Or maybe see’n how fast you can swerve in between the dotted yellow lines while having your front tires touch the white line on each side before turning back, I got up to 75 before I put the car into a four wheel slide.

Needless to say I didn’t get the over the road job.

With the job market being so poor I decided to go to a trade school. In early December I took off for New Jersey to visit a school there and then down to Jacksonville, Florida and over to Houston, Texas before heading home (4758 miles in six days). As of right now I’m waiting for my W2s so I can apply for school loans and grants off this really horse shit year financially.
