Food

I want to buy a deep-fryer.

I want to wrap a Slider in bacon, dip it in beer batter, and deep fry it. How can that not taste good?

And I'm not the only one.

If you are going to invest in a deep fryer, sliders just ain't going to cut it... However, a nice Monte Cristo Sandwich is the best way to break it in.

Behold Redstar's recipe for this tantalizing piece of Culinary Heaven!

2 slices bread
Dijon mustard to taste
3 slices deli ham
3 slices deli turkey
1 slice swiss cheese
1 slice cheddar cheese
1 egg
1 tablespoon milk
a touch cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon powdered confectioners sugar

Directions:

1. Spread Dijon on a slice of bread and construct the sandwich with alternating stacks of deli ham, swiss cheese, deli turkey and cheddar cheese. Hold together with a few strategically placed plane wood toothpicks. You can also trim the bread crust for that High Society type of presentation.

2. Heat 5 inches of oil in a deep-fryer to 365 degrees F (180 degrees C). While oil is heating, make the batter.

3. Mix the egg, milk, cinnamon and vanilla in a shallow pan.

4. Dip the whole sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides evenly with it.

5. Deep Fry the sandwich until golden brown and the cheese has melted.

6. Remove toothpicks, sprinkle confectioners sugar onto the sandwich, and serve with a side of strawberry or current jelly for dipping.

Pure Decadence Baby!!
