Bikers Doing Good

Not the Patriot Guard, this time. It's BACA.
A dozen motorcycle riders in black leathers showed up one cold night in early February outside an apartment building where a scared little boy lived in Oakdale.

The 5-year-old wasn't afraid of the bikers. He was fearful that his dad was coming to take him for a visit.

His mom had obtained a temporary protection order against her former boyfriend, whom she alleged had sexually abused their son for several years, said Alan Holmes, one of the bikers guarding their home that night. Holmes, 61, is a licensed psychologist and president of the Anoka chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA), which supports and protects abused children.

This sounds like a group I may need to consider joining. Well done.
"Every few minutes, he would open the curtain on his bedroom window and peek out to be sure we were still there," Holmes said. "He had a tiny light in his room so we could see him. We waved and every time, he smiled."

Forsaken: Vengeance

From here, regarding this:

This just makes me angry. It doesn't help that I have both a 2 year old and a baby named Grace.

I could skin those monsters alive, both with a smile on my face and hate in my heart.

That poor girl, tortured by the people who are designed to provide comfort and protection. Saying "I love you" as she was whipped and drowned and thrown across the room by people forsaking their sacred duty.

With the death penalty off the table, I'm hoping for life in prison, with the cries of that beautiful little girl echoing in their minds every minute of every day.

Guns in Daycare Centers?

Why on earth would we need guns in daycare centers? Bad things don't happen there!

Oh wait.

Misty

The longer I am a father, the more easily certain stories tear me up.
MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. — All Jeanna Grcich wanted for Christmas was for her daddy to come home. On Wednesday, the 8-year-old got her wish when Sgt. Chris Grcich appeared in her classroom at Nelson-Wilks-Herron Elementary School after serving nine months in Iraq.

After standing in shock for a second, Jeanna dropped the Christmas card she and her sister, Caitlyn, 9, had been making for him and they both ran into his arms.

“Happy birthday, sweetheart,” Chris Grcich told Jeanna, whose birthday was on Tuesday and who wished for him to come home when she blew out the candles.

Merry Christmas, kids.

There is evil in the world.

I hope I am never confronted by certain forms of inhumanity, for I will lose control in the face of some evil.

Old, or Chicken?

I'm thinking about selling my bike.

In June, Brat #3 will arrive. Brats 1 & 2 are 8 and 1, respectively. I hate the idea of not watching them grow up, and the money would be handy.

But I love to ride.

And I rarely get to, because they don't make child seats for motorcycles. Brat #1 can ride on the back seat. 2 & 3 are years away from that.

On the other hand, my wife will be staying home with the baby most of the summer, so I'll be able to ride every day...during rush hour.

Dilemmas, dilemmas.
