Here is a story about a woman who refuses to be an easy victim again.

If I'm ever in that position again-- unarmed and under attack -- I mean to come away from the experience(even if dead) with at least the trophy of one eyeball from my tormentor with which to festoon my trophy case. Next time would/will be tooth-and-nail. If I have time to access it, my weighty little Leatherman will be slammed forcefully into an accommodating temple-- I will do my best to kill with my bare, immaculately manicured hands: no more Mr. Nice Bitch. There are kneecaps, eyeballs, shins, insteps and wedding tackle among the array of vulnerable areas on an attacker, and I'll set about my business if I must.

I didn't believe in just handing it over, and I don't even moreso now than ever. I'm still no Linda Hamilton, but I think this is a principle that applies not just to possessions or your life, but to our very freedoms and rights as human beings. Don't just give it away without a fight. Passivity gets you nothing but soundly and thoroughly ensconced in the bitch-seat, and you teach the aggressors they were right to disdain you.

Yeah, it's possible someone will divest me of a handbag in the future, but next time, I'm going to take something in exchange, including a heaping helping of their DNA.

Anger issues

Woman tossed into middle of Hwy. 169 during road-rage

Jennifer Boulden had just made a slow U-turn on Hwy. 169 south of Shakopee, and the guy coming up fast behind her was honking and motioning to pull over.

This was a legal u-turn. Folks, unless you are missing a kid, you probably shouldn't pull over for strangers.

She stopped on the shoulder and the man got out of his pickup, that also carried a woman and two children. When she opened her car door, the man, swearing a blue streak, yanked Boulden out of her car . She tried to call 911, but he grabbed her cell phone. He hurled and shattered it on the highway. Then he picked up the petite, 125-pound Prior Lake woman.

Her cell phone accomplished a lot, didn't it? What if she would have pulled out a gun? This ******* tried to kill her, she should have been able to defend herself.

What kind of a lesson is he teaching to his children, who were in the truck with him? And why is his wife still with him? Lady, if he's got anger issues like this, it's only a matter of time before he takes his irrational anger out on you.

"I was high in the air and then I was in middle of 169 northbound." she recalled from her hospital bed Thursday morning. "I remember rolling over and hearing skidding brakes. A lady got out and stopped traffic. A man ran and scooped me up and carried me to the side of the road."

This is why "disparity of force" is a legal concept in regards to the use of lethal force. This woman had no way to defend herself against this thug.

Justice

The republicans who forgot they were republicans were punished yesterday. They weren't horsewhipped, unfortunately, but they were removed from leadership positions.

The changes in GOP leadership on House committees are:

• Rep. Rod Hamilton, R-Mountain Lake, replaced by Rep. Dean Urdahl, R-Grove City, in the Agriculture, Rural Economies & Veterans Affairs Committee.

• Rep. Kathy Tingelstad, R-Andover, replaced by Rep. Larry Howes, R-Walker, in the Capital Investment Committee.

• Rep. Jim Abeler, R-Anoka, replaced by Rep. Matt Dean, R-Dellwood, in the Health Care and Human Services Committee.

• Heidgerken, R-Freeport, replaced by Rep. Sondra Erickson, R-Princeton, in the K-12 Finance Committee.

• Erhardt, R-Edina, replaced by Rep. Morrie Lanning, R-Moorhead, in the Property Tax Relief & Local Sales Taxes Committee.

• In addition, Rep. Neil Peterson, R-Bloomington, was removed as an assistant minority whip and replaced by Rep. Pat Garofalo, R-Farmington.

I'm waiting for the wailing and gnashing of teeth to commence. These....folks don't seem to understand that being a Republican generally comes with some expectations from your constituency. Not stealing out money is one of those expectations.

I'd love to see public letters from these people announcing their party-switch.

House, Senate override a Pawlenty veto for the first time

What an idiotic headline. A nice, congratulatory POS response to the latest wallet rape by our legislators. It's a lovely demonstration of bias by Mike Kaszuba and Mark Brunswick.

The actual headline should be something like "State Legislature Passes Biggest Tax Hike in 150 years". That's called...wait for it...honesty.

They aren't exactly up-to-speed on tenses and English language usage, either.

The legislation would increase the state gas tax 5 1/2 cents by fall and then by up to another 3 cents; 3 1/2 cents of the 8 1/2 cents would be in place until bonds authorized under the plan are retired.

The legislation is increasing the state gas tax by the stated amount, followed by another 1/2 cent increase per year.

And we can't forget the part they trimmed from the article. Why was it trimmed, I wonder?

It also will provide a $25 income-tax credit for low-income Minnesotans to ease the effect of the gas tax increase.

Income redistribution. Steal from the rich and give to the poor. Wonderful.

Under another provision, a quarter-cent sales tax increase would occur in the seven-county Twin Cities metro area without a referendum, with all proceeds going to transit projects. The sales tax needs action by the county boards.

And it comes with another sales tax increase for the metro area! I've addressed this before. I'd like to remind the politicians in this state that it is not possible to tax your way to prosperity. Get out of the damn way!

The names in bold are the metro-area congress-critters that voted to disproportionately screw their constituents. Newsflash, folks! The metro-area citizens pay the lion's share of ALL transportation costs in the state! We are already screwed out of most of our share of the transportation budget.

It's important to know the what kind of bear you might run into out in the wild.

When in bear country, it is advisable to have little bells sewn onto your clothing so as not to surprise the bears. Also, you should carry some kind of pepper spray. It is also important to know what type of bear you are likely to encounter, brown or grizzley. Tracks of the grizzley are noticeably larger. If you happen to see any droppings, those of the brown bear generally contain seeds and shells of various nuts found in the area while droppings of grizzley bears often contain little bells and smell like pepper spray.

Update to this story:

Less than a week after shots were fired near the Best Buy store in Brooklyn Center, a Minneapolis man has been arrested and charged with three counts of felony drive by shooting.

According to statement from the Brooklyn Center Police Department, Tyriek Montauge Tyner, 18, of Minneapolis, was arrested the Friday, Feb. 8, in connection with the drive-by shooting that occurred in the parking lot of Best Buy in Brooklyn Center.

Charges were filed on Monday, Feb. 11.

I hope you rot in prison.

If found guilty of all charge[sic], the penalty for each felony offense of drive by shooting is 3 to 10 years and/or $20,000 for each count.

I hope you get the sentences consecutively. Thirty years of your life is not too much to ask for endangering countless innocent bystanders in your little pissing match.

The dining fad of eating sushi off a woman or man naked -- except for some strategically placed banana leaves and flowers -- started in Japan.

It has swept through Europe, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Now it's coming to the Twin Cities, in blustery March.

Thom Pham has scheduled a naked sushi night at Temple, his downtown Minneapolis restaurant, on March 8.

Demond Reed

There are times when I wish Minnesota had the death penalty.

When 4-year-old Demond Reed soiled his pants last week, his purported caretaker, Carla Poole, began to beat him, ordering her 4- and 6-year-old sons to hold down his arms.

That's the nice part of the story. The poor kid died, being beaten by the caretaker his father selected when he was sent to jail.

Brain Death

This is an amazing story.

As Raleane (Rae) Kupferschmidt lay motionless in her hospital bed, family and friends said their final goodbyes and the funeral home was called.

But just as the grieving began in her Lake Elmo home, Kupferschmidt woke up from her coma.

"There's no medical explanation for what happened to my mother,'' said Kupferschmidt's daughter, Lisa Sturm, who is a surgical technician at Regions Hospital. "It's a miracle."

Just days earlier, doctors offered no hope that Kupferschmidt, 65, could survive a massive cerebral hemorrhage.

However, the exception won't make me change my pre-mortem plans. If I'm a vegetable, and common medical wisdom says that's not going to change, pull the plug.

I do like this part:

"It was inevitable that she was going to die,'' Sturm said. So she decided to bring her mother home. More than 250 people showed up with soup, hot dishes and memories. They said goodbye to Rae and wished the family well.

The family got to say good-bye in private, and she was going to be allowed to pass with dignity.

Poor Baby

You steal billions from an independent company, then complain when they sue? You've got my sympathy, dipwad.

Last week, Exxon Mobil obtained a court order freezing up to $12 billion of Venezuela's state-owned oil company's worldwide assets after the Chavez government forced the company out of two joint ventures last year.

Britain's High Court barred Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. (PdVSA) from selling assets up to that amount, Exxon Mobil spokeswoman Margaret Ross said last week.

The judgment stems from Venezuela's June decision to take control of two projects it had entered into with Exxon, the world's largest publicly traded oil company.

Exxon came up with the idea. Exxon did the legwork. Exxon probably provided most of the starting capital. Venezuela nationalized stole the venture. Twice.

Cry me a river.

Even better, he's planning on dropping the remains of his economy in the toilet.

"We are not going to send oil to the United States."

Idiot.

The United States is Venezuela's biggest customer for the oil-rich nation's petroleum products, importing about 1.4 million barrels of oil per day from Venezuela, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. Exxon Mobil did not immediately return a call on Sunday seeking comment.

Now, the interesting part. If he does cut off oil shipments to the U.S. and we DON'T invade, will the BDS of the "No more war for oil" idiots get turned off? They are our second biggest OPEC supplier.

A little bit of pot, a little bit of meth, a replica gun, and some pictures of guns and gang members. My questions: What exactly constitutes Participating in a Disorderly House? and Is this really worth a SWAT-capade?

Dear Representative:

I couldn't help but notice that you signed an amicus curiae brief in support of the reversal of District of Columbia v. Heller.

By signing this brief, you are explicitly supporting the ridiculous notion that banning the possession of an effective means of self-defense is the proper function of Congress and somehow constitutional. Banning handguns and functional long guns is "infringement", which is specifically not allowed by the Constitution, which you are sworn to uphold, not step on.

Washington DC has one of the highest murder rates in the country, year after year, due to its strict and unconstitutional bans. States and cities with less infringing laws, or even no infringement, have much lower crime rates, in almost every instance. The gun ban is unreasonable, illogical, unconstitutional, and unworkable.

Any law outlawing guns will only affect the law-abiding citizens. By their very nature, criminals are willing to break the law. By signing this brief, you are stating to the world that you do not care for the well-being of the citizens of Washington DC, and, by extension, anybody else outside of the government.

Your job is to represent your constituents, not to trample the Constitution in your zeal to run the lives of an independent citizenry. We are citizens, not subjects of our government. You must remember that you work for us, not the other way around.
